This trio of Spanish banknotes dated in the 1920’s are little works of art in themselves. Our trio comprises the 25, 50 and 100 pesetas dated 1925-1928 (P69,74&75). They were printed by Bradbury Wilkinson.
The fronts celebrate the lives of famous citizens Calderon de la Barca, Velazquez and King Philip II who, for a short time was married to Mary I and who led an armada against Elizabeth I. The backs are as beautifully engraved featuring famous paintings, The Crosses of the Order of Santiago by Domingo Munoz, The Surrender of Bredas by Velazquez and La Silla de Felipe II by Luiz Alvarez Catala.
