In 2012 South Africa introduced a new series of banknotes. The fronts were dominated by the portrait
of Nelson Mandela, one of South Africa’s most famous sons. Before this issue between 1992 and
2012, the fronts featured one of the Big Five, those animals which are most viewed on safaris. When
the new series was introduced the Big Five were not forgotten. The images were instead used on the
back of the notes.
We can now offer Crisp uncirculated examples of the 10 rand note from the new series where the Rhinoceros is the animal from the Big Five which is featured.
