In the early 1800’s the Government was unable to strike Shillings and Sixpences and the economy almost came to a standstill. Some industrious merchants went ahead and struck their own Sterling Silver Shillings and Sixpences but that was only allowed for two years 1811 and 1812.
Today these are very collectable and much more difficult to find than the official Regal coinage that came after them.
We have managed to obtain a small group of these scarce shilling tokens in Very Fine condition, supplies are limited. We have different types so you will receive the best that comes out of the box.
