I have checked through our stock of Proof Sets and find that we have an imbalance of Proof Sets in the Red Leather Deluxe cases especially the 1995 issue. Normally we charge £7-£8 more for the Deluxe Proof Set which is usually in a red leather case, rather than the blue simulated leather case. For this issue only I have priced the 1995 Proof Set as if it was in a cheaper case, but you will get the Deluxe Proof Set case at no extra cost. At Coincraft the collector always wins!
1990 Large & Small 5 Pence Set Silver Proofs. In 1990 the Royal Mint reduced the size of our 5 Pence. To commemorate this historic reduction in the size of our coin, the Royal Mint issued a Special collector’s set of the old large-sized coin and the new smaller sized coin. But this set was only struck in Proof Sterling Silver, which makes it very important today.
We have just purchased a small holding of the large and small Sterling Silver 5 Pence Sets. Each set is in the original Royal Mint case as issued. This set is missing from many collections and I think that you will find it most interesting.
The 1997 Proof Set is a heck of a Proof Set. It contains 10 coins and boy are there some interesting ones included. Most importantly this is the Deluxe Set in the case of issue. You get the 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p large 50p, small 50p, English £1, £2 (the first of the bimetallic issue), £5 issued for the 50th wedding anniversary of the Queen and Prince Philip. It is a crowded set which also includes the Official Royal Mint dated medallion.
We bought a nice group of these sets and we are going to offer them at what we think is a good price. Some dealers are breaking the sets up and charging far more for the single coin. You can own this 10 coin 1997 Proof Set for just £49.50, which I think is a bargain price.
