Tsarist Russia Patina Retro Pattern Crowns

Tsarist Russia Patina Retro Pattern Crowns

First, it is important to state that these Patina Russian Piedforts in Silver, have nothing to do with the current Russian Government. We support the Ukraine Government and not the Russian invasion force. These pieces were made in Manchester, England to show what Tsarist Russian crowns might have looked like if they were issued. They were issued a number of years ago and to be honest many of them were melted as the silver price increased. These are the piedforts or double the normal thickness, they are struck in Proof Sterling Silver. This is the first time that we have been able to offer them. Supplies are very limited.

Patina_Silver_Bonomi_Australia_Matt_Proof_obv

Victoria, Bonomi Design (Australia) Silver Patina Matt Proof

Bonomi was an engraver who privately made patterns for Victorian Crowns, These were most unusual as the design was engraved incuse rather than raised. The portrait of Queen Victoria was not the most flattering we have ever seen. Of course, the designs were not accepted, but today they bring thousands of pounds from collectors. We believe the secret is time, it changes a lot of things. Our friend in Manchester decided a number of years ago to use the Bonomi design and make some Patina retro patterns of British interest. We believe he made between 50 and 70 pieces of each in Sterling Silver. We bought all that he had left. This is the Australia issue in Matt Proof Sterling Silver. A very limited number is available and they're worth having

Patina Silver Bonomi Scotland Matt Proof_obv

Victoria, Bonomi Design (Scotland) Silver Patina Matt Proof

When Victoria became Queen, there was a sort of contest to design her new coinage. An engraver by the name of Bonomi came up with something unique at the time. He wanted to make the bust and legend below the surface of the coin. It was unusual and different, so it was rejected. It was rather handsome, a few years ago the Patina Series decided to use that as a base for new designs. This time they would make the reverse to honour Scotland, Ireland and Australia. The obverse still had the incuse portrait of Queen Victoria but the reverses were now different, one for each country. They are struck in crown-sized Matt Proof Sterling Silver with mintages between 50 and 70 pieces of each. They are beautiful, they are Rare and we think they are priced low enough to amaze you. Remember today the Royal Mint charges about £82 for a silver crown-sized piece with the mintage running into the thousands. For a Silver Patina of this low mintage you would expect to pay over £100. We have just 30 and we are going to offer them to you while they last.

Victoria, Crown (Gothic) with St George reverse Patina Proof in Goldine_obv

Victoria, Crown (Gothic) with St George reverse Patina Proof in Goldine

Until we bought the archives from International Currency Bureau, (it weighed over half a ton), We had never seen this rendition of the Gothic Crown. The Gothic Crown is considered perhaps the most beautiful British coin ever struck. This private crownsized proof piece has the Queen Victoria Gothic Crown on one side and St. George slaying the dragon on the other side. They are struck in goldine which looks like gold but really is a base metal. We understand that the mintage was just 250 pieces. It is beautiful, this is the first time offered and to be honest, it is value for money.

Victoria, Double Florin 1893 Patina Silver Proof

Victoria, Double Florin 1893 Patina Silver Proof

The only Victorian Double Florin they ever made was the Jubilee Head type 1887-1890. In fact this is the only double florin they made for actual day to day usage. ICB decided to privately issue a Queen Victoria Old Head double florin retro dated 1893. They struck them in Proof Sterling Silver. We recently bought a small group from someone who bought them and put them away 25 years ago. We have seen these on sale for £89.50, but for our clients we offer a special price the 1893 Victoria Patina Double Florin in Proof Sterling Silver for just £59.50, but be aware that supplies are very limited.

Victoria Jubilee Head Crown Wales Patina Patern Silver Proof_obv

Victoria, Jubilee Head Crown (Wales) Patina Patern Silver Proof

This handsome Proof crownsized retro-Patina has the Jubilee Head bust of the Queen on one side and a Welsh dragon on the other side with a crown above and Prince of Wales feathers below. It is struck in Proof Sterling Silver and is one of only 80 pieces struck. The Queen Victoria side is fantastic and if you didn’t know it, you would think it was an 1887 Crown in Proof. We bought the entire mintage because we thought they were extremely well done, the mintage was very low and we could sell them at a price that we thought was interesting. Add one to your collection for just £59.50 which is much less than high mintage silver crowns are costing from the world mints!

Picture of Victoria, Patina Double Florin Copper

Victoria, Patina Double Florin Copper

The Double Florin was only issued with the Jubilee Head of Queen Victoria from 1887-1890. So INA asked what if they had issued a Double Florin with the Old Head of Queen Victoria on it, what would it look like? What they did, is in their Patina series, strike a piece to show what an Old Head Double Florin might have looked like. As usual with the Patina series, the engraving and quality of the product is outstanding. We have the Patina Queen Victoria Old Head Double Florins available in copper and goldine. Here we present the Double Florin in Copper. They won’t cost you the earth and will add to your collection. After all, they didn’t make this coin, but here it is… These are Patina retro-patterns, made to show what the coin might have looked like had it actually been made at the time. All pieces are in Uncirculated condition.

Here we present the Patina in bronzed copper. Well worth having…

William IV Ireland Patinas_obv

William IV, Ireland Patinas

These crownsized Patina were issued to show what Irish crowns of William IV might have looked like, had they actually been issued. On the obverse you have the bust of William IV just like it looks on the 1831 British crown. The reverse has a crowned Irish Harp, they are retro-dated 1830 so as not confuse collectors. They are beautiful crownsized pieces in Prooflike condition. We also doubt if anyone else has any for sale. We know we bought them about 20 years ago from the man who made them. The workmanship is outstanding especially on the bust of William IV. A pattern crown of 1831 will cost you £10,000-£20,000.
