The 10 kroner denomination is no longer used in Norway. The notes on offer now are dated 1983 and bear the portrait of Fridtjof Nansen. In his early life he became famous for his expeditions in the Arctic, crossing the Greenland ice-cap in the 1880’s and coming the closest to the North Pole. In later life he was a diplomat, politician and humanitarian and even Rector of St Andrews University in Scotland. On the back is a reminder of the importance of the Norwegian fishing industry with a trawler and fisherman. Crisp Uncirculated
