New Zealand, 3d 1940

We have just purchased a group of King George VI Silver Threepences from New Zealand, all were issued during World War II. This was the furthest part of the British Empire at the time and these coins must have had a heck of journey to get to New Zealand. All coins are in Fine condition and this one was issued in 1940.

Victoria Young Head Shilling Fair

Victoria came to the throne a very young woman, she was only 18 when she became Queen. Her first coins carried a very youthful portrait of Queen Victoria a portrait carried on for the next 50 years. The Shilling was struck in Sterling Silver and because they were used every day, they come well-circulated. We offer them here in Fair conditio; remember that the newest coin is now 130 years old. Dates will be of our choice, but the more you order the more different dates we will try and give you.

British West Africa 1/10th Penny 1940 Unc

The smallest coin issued by British West Africa under Kings George V and George VI is the 1/10th Penny. It is about the size of the old sixpence, struck in cupro-nickel and with a hole in the middle. The hole was so the locals could carry the coins on a string as they didn’t have pockets. Uncirculated condition and generally difficult to find.

Victoria, Jubilee Head Florin Very Fine

Queen Victoria finally consented to a change of the design of her portrait on the coinage of the United Kingdom in 1887. For the previous 50 years, all of her coins had the Young Head portrait, showing the Queen when she was a 17-year-old girl. The Florin as a coin had only been in existence since 1849. We can offer the Jubilee Head Sterling Silver Florins of Queen Victoria issued 1887-1892 in two different grades. Dates will be of our choice, but the more coins you order, the more different dates we will try and give you. On one side you have the Jubilee Head bust of the Queen with a rather silly small-sized crown on her head. The other side has four coats of arms. All of these Jubilee Head Florins are struck in Sterling Silver and they are, despite what Victoria thought, rather attractive. We can offer them here in Very Fine, they are nice collectable examples.
