George VI 1943 Halfcrown Choice Unc

We have just bought a small group of the 1943 World War II Silver Halfcrowns in Uncirculated and Choice Uncirculated condition. King George VI was on the throne and because of necessity our coinage was still being struck in silver, be it half fine silver. The 1943 Halfcrown is the largest denomination struck at the time. A halfcrown for those of you who have forgotten is Two Shillings and Sixpence or half a dollar in local London talk. We have them in two very high grades and very difficult to usually get, Uncirculated and Choice Uncirculated. Remember in 1947 they took silver out of our coinage.

Queen Elizabeth Accession Crown

In 2010 Tristan da Cunha as part of a series, issued a crown noting the Accession of Princess Elizabeth into Queen Elizabeth II. It happened at Tree Tops and there is a small plaque there commemorating the event. This gold plated crown shows the young Elizabeth and the date 1952. The obverse has a portrait of our Queen as she looks now and the date 2010. Each crown is full crownsized, gold plated, struck in Proof and comes in a protective capsule. It remind us of the Queen Victoria medal in 1897, showing both the Young Head and the Old Head. Although, our Monarch looks far better at her age than Queen Victoria did.

New Hebrides 100 Francs

The exotic South Pacific Island Nation of the New Hebrides is now called Vanuatu. It got its independence from the Anglo-French commission that ran it in 1980. Before then, only one crown was ever issued and that was the 100 Francs of 1966. It is struck in 835 fine Silver and the coins on offer are in Uncirculated condition. If you are collecting a crown of each country, then you must have this one for your collection. It has the head of French Liberty on one side and a native carved sceptre on the other side. A large silver crown that is very difficult to get, in fact we have only 35 pieces and that is after a year of looking for them.
