Madagascar lies in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Mozambique in East Africa. Formerly a French colony, it is particularly known for being the only place in the world with lemurs.
These 10,000 francs were issued almost 20 years ago in 1995 (P79). They are particularly colourful with the portrait of a man on the front alongside musical instruments and a carved figure. The back features local artisans at work.
