Queen Elizabeth II Ship Visit To Tristan Da Cunha FDC 7 Head Pack

Tristan da Cunha is one of three Atlantic Ocean island nations, ruled by a common British Governor; the other two are St. Helena and Ascension Island. The other two I have visited, but to visit Tristan on the RMS Ship, you have to be healthy enough to climb a rope ladder to get back on board, if the waves get too rough. Something I could not do. But in 1979 the Queen Elizabeth II ship did visit the island, it was the inaugural visit and as far as I know their only visit. Tristan issued a special souvenir sheet of five stamps all depicting ships and it comes in a full-colour booklet filled with information. But there is something even more important. On the back cover, there are the actual signatures of the leaders of the seven families that live on Tristan da Cunha. Oh, didn’t I tell you that only about 275 people live there? This is a unique souvenir sheet of mint stamps, informative booklets, and signatures of the seven families. We are selling it at a very reasonable price too...

Tristan da Cunha, 70th Anniversary Battle of Britain Crown

In 2010 the world celebrated the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain, one of our most important victories during World War II. ‘TDC’ or Tristan da Cunha honoured this event by issuing a rather attractive and important Crown. You have H.M. the Queen on the obverse and a battle scene on the reverse. There are three airplanes fighting it out in the sky over Britain, to the left is a full colour British Flag, enamelled. This crown sized piece has been gold plated, struck in proof condition and then placed in a protective capsule to protect the finish of the coin. As our supply is not all that great, it could be the last time we can offer them. Beautiful and priced to please most collectors, but supplies are limited.

Tristan da Cunha, Captain James Cook Proof Crown In Capsule

Captain James Cook on his three voyages to the South Pacific, mapped all of New Zealand, much of the East Coast of Australia, found the Sandwich Islands and South Georgia. He was also the first European to begin formal contact with the Hawaii Islands. Which was unfortunate, as when he returned there, there was a terrible fight and he was killed in 1779. This handsome silver plated diamond shaped coin from Tristan da Cunha honours this great explorer. You have Captain James Cook on one side with his sailing ship and a ships wheel behind him. The other side has H.M. the Queen. Each large sized diamond shaped crown comes in a unique heavy plastic capsule to protect the proof surface. A great man and a wonderful coin, what more could you ask for?

Tristan da Cunha, Christopher Columbus

Columbus discovered more than just America, he discovered the Caribbean Islands as well. This beautiful diamond shaped Crown from Tristan da Cunha does him great justice. Christopher with wide tricorn hat, sailing ship to his right and ships wheel above is on one side and H.M. Queen Elizabeth II is on the other side. Each coin is in Proof condition and is heavily silver plated to gleam. Then it is put into a diamond shaped plastic display case to help preserve it. Now you can own a most unusual and interesting coin of that great explorer Christopher Columbus for a very competitive price: we doubt that any would be issued today at such a reasonable price.

Tristan da Cunha, Diamond Coronation Crown

The Portuguese explorer Tristão da Cunha was born in 1460 and died in 1540. At one time he was King Manuel I’s ambassador to the Vatican under Pope Leo X. But he is best known for his antics in the Middle East and India. When in his wanderings he found a group of islands in the South Atlantic, although the weather was too rough to get off his ship, he claimed them and named one after himself. Now that island Tristan da Cunha has issued a crown to honour their discoverer. It is diamond shaped and has H.M. Queen Elizabeth II on one side and Tristão on the other side with sailing ship and wheel. This is heavily silver plated and struck in Proof condition. It also comes in a diamond shaped protective capsule. If you name an island after yourself, why not have a coin made for you?
