Elizabeth II, £2 Dove of Peace 1995 Unc
In 1995 the Royal Mint issued a special commemorative £2 piece to mark the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II. They used the iconic Dove of Peace and the inscription read ‘1945 In Peace Goodwill 1995’. They were struck in a brass coloured metal for general circulation.
You must remember that this was 25 years ago and we at that time used the older large sized Two Pound coin. You have the so-called Maklouf portrait of the Queen on one side and the Dove of Peace on the other side.
While it is relatively easy to find Prooflike Specimen coins from the bubble packs and Mint Sets, it is not so easy to find the coins that were actually struck for circulation. The coins on offer are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and the difficult ones, the ones issued for circulation.
