Cyprus 5-coin Mint Set 1963-1983

Citta del Vaticano, or Vatican City, issued its own coins up until 2002 when it adopted the Euro. These Aluminium 2 Lire coins (KM.50) were issued in the name of Pope Pius XII in 1958 and were the last of their type issued since he died in October 1958. The coins are low mintage with only 30,000 being struck. They have the crowned shield on the obverse and on the reverse the figure of Fortitude standing with a lion at his feet. Even better, they come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and are now nearly 65 years old and rather difficult to find.

The Solomon Islands is a group of South Pacific islands, but their coins still carry the Queen’s portrait. The coins are dated between 1996-2012 and many of the coins are no longer available due to the high cost of minting them. You get 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 Cents plus the 1 & 2 Dollars. Each coin has the Queen’s portrait and each coin is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Not an easy place to get coins from, in fact not an easy place to get to in any case. Five coins: 1 Centavo, 5 Centavos, 10 Centavos, 25 Centavos and Half a Peso. Dated 1987-1991. You never see most of these coins, especial the ½ Peso with the 3 head.
