The Chartered Bank in Hong operated between 1961 until the 1980’s when it became known as the
Standard Bank and subsequently as the Standard Chartered Bank. These 5 dollars were issued in
1975 (P73b) The Bank’s Headquarters are featured on the front while the back depicts City Hall. Now
over 40 years old and in Unc condition we offer choice examples of the Chartered Bank 5 dollars
Several banks have issued banknotes for Hong Kong in the past. This included the Chartered Bank
10 dollars dated 1981 (P77b) They are coloured bright green with a stylised carp on the front. The
Arms of the bank and the Bank Headquarters appears on the back. Crisp EF.
