This charming bond for 100 mil reis for the Banco do Cafe was for issue in the early years of the 20th century according to a law passed in 1890 (PS541r) The size of a large banknote the bond has a central vignette of seated allegorical females with trumpet, sword and laurel wreath fl anking a central shield. Once issued, the bond would pay 7% per year, payable in January and July and recorded on the back until the bond was redeemed. A charming piece in Crisp Uncirculated.
In 1967 Singapore and Brunei came to an agreement whereby each currency would be valid in the other’s territory. The 40th Anniversary of this Currency Interchageability Agreement was celebrated in 2007 with the issue of a special 20 ringgit note in polymer plastic.
