Merlyn Lowther Historical £5 Fry B393 (HA01 Prefix)

The Bank of England unveiled a new £5 note in May 2002. The prison reformer Elizabeth Fry appeared on the back (B393). The issue had to be suspended within days of being issued because the public were reporting that the serial numbers were falling off! After sorting out the varnish coating intended to extend the life of the note, the issue was resumed in August 2002. The first notes all had the prefix HA01 and we are delighted to offer these in crisp, uncirculated condition.
