In 1986 the Royal Mint, for the first time, issued a commemorative £2 piece and it was the first non Gold £2 piece to ever be struck. This coin was issued for the Commonwealth Games which were held that year in Edinburgh.

The Proof Set of 1986 also contains the £1, 50p, 20p, 10p, 5p, 2p and 1p. Very Important: the 1986 5p, 10p, 20p and 50p were not issued for circulation.
