USA Share Cert Belt Rail Road & Stockyard Co

These handsome share certificates were issued to raise money for the Belt Rail Road and Stockyard Co in Indianapolis. This company was incorporated in 1873 to construct, operate and maintain a railroad around the city with the construction of stockyards following a short time later. The new livestock building at its peak in the 1930s handled 3 million animals a year! The central vignette is of a steam train arriving at the station. This certificate for shares of 50 dollars, are hand signed and subsequently cancelled. Crisp shares kept folded in the past but a great addition to any collection.
