In his day John Paul Getty was the richest man in the world with much of his wealth based on oil. In 1953 he took control of the Mission Development Company and became President. Eventually in 1967 this company, along with Tidewater Oil became part of the Getty Oil Company with assets of more than $3 billion. These share certificates all bear the facsimile signature of J Paul Getty as President and are dated in the 1950’s, kept folded over the years. An interesting relic of a very rich man!
