Elizabeth II, 1972 Royal Mint Proof Set

Of all the decimal Proof Sets the 1972 is the most important because none of the coins were issued for circulation, except for the crown that is. That means if you need the 50p, 10p, 5p, 2p, 1p or the 1/2p the only way you can get them is from the Proof Set. Plus of course you also get a Proof cupronickel Crown and the Royal Mint medal of 1972 in the original packaging.

1980 Royal Mint Proof Set_obv

Elizabeth II, 1980 Royal Mint Proof Set

In 1980 the Royal Mint issued its first Proof Set for some time with frosted coins. What we mean by frosted is, the field is Brilliant Proof and the bust, devices, and lettering are Matt Proof. This is almost like a Wedgwood effect. The public loved it with the new frosting. It is hard to believe but that was over 40 years ago 1980! You get the 50p, 10p, 5p, 2p, 1p, and 1/2p all in Frosted Proof, all in the original case of an issue with the original Royal Mint packaging. Of course, over the past 40 years, the coins will have toned a little, but we always send you the best set that we have in stock when your order arrives.
