Elizabeth II, Double Florin Patina Silver Proof _obv

Elizabeth II, Double Florin Patina Silver Proof

In 1953 the Royal Mint issued a whole series of coins for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. The one coin they didn’t issue was the Double Florin, so INA did. They made an almost crownsized piece in Choice Proof Sterling Silver. These have been placed aside for the past 25 years and we are offering them for the first time. Show these to your friends and they won’t believe they exist. Well from the Royal Mint they don’t but as a Patina retro-pattern they do exist. Remember that later in Elizabeth the 2nd reign they did issue a Double Florin, it was much smaller and they called it a 20 Pence piece. Own a full-sized Double Florin struck in Proof Sterling Silver for just £69.50. Supplies are limited.

George III Bermuda Patina Pewter

We were told by the people who struck the Patina crownsized retro patterns that striking anything in Pewter was something they did not relish. It is hard to strike, it is messy to strike and they would rather use another metal. But these George III Bermuda Patina retro patterns are struck in Proof Pewter and we think they look great. Forget the work and the mess the finished product is great. Because they were struck in Pewter, the mintages are limited. Get them while you can…

George III, 1813 Military Guinea Paperweight_obv

George III, 1813 Military Guinea Paperweight

In 1813 they struck the last Guinea ever, it was shortly to be replaced by the Sovereign. They were struck to pay English troops advancing into France and thus called The Military Guinea. This is a beautiful Proof rendition of that last ever ‘Military’ Guinea of 1813. You have the bust of King George III on the obverse wearing a laurel wreath the reverse has a crowned coat of arms. It has been gold plated and comes in a protective capsule. This is the first time that we have been able to offer these large paperweights. They were made years ago and ‘lost’ in our friend’s warehouse until now. They will never be made again and we think they are fantastic.

George III, Gibraltar Patina Pewter_obv

George III, Gibraltar Patina Pewter

These full crownsized Gibraltar Patinas of King George III are struck in Pewter. We mention this because someone involved in minting has told us that striking anything in pewter is both hard and messy. He also said that he would rather not work with this metal. We think it looks great and the difficulty working with it makes it even scarcer. This Patina or retro pattern is full-crownsized, has the portrait of King George III on one side, the arms of Gibraltar on the other, and is in Prooflike condition. Now only £9.95, don’t miss out. They are special and we have priced them to tempt you…

George III, Imitation Spade Guinea_obv

George III, Imitation Spade Guinea

Every week we have someone bring in a Guinea or Half Guinea token and we have to tell them that they are not real. It started in the 1800’s with a man called Kettle, who made gold-looking brass copies of the King George III Spade Guinea and Half Guinea. The story is that an actress used to throw these to the audience at the end of her performance. The audience was to respond by throwing real Gold Guineas back. Is this true or not, we just don’t know. But over the years a vast number of imitations were made, none of which were meant to pass as real Gold coins. A number even had adverts on them and were obviously given out as a sort of store card. Here we offer nice examples of the Guinea from Victorian times made over 100 years ago. They have been gilded or even gold plated, but they are not real Gold. The designs may vary slightly.

Picture of George III, Wales Patina Silver

George III, Wales Patina Silver

This Wales crownsized Patina retro-pattern is based on the portrait of King George III that the Bank of England used on their emergency coinage in the early 1800s. In fact I think this portrait is as good as that one. These Patina pieces are struck in Proof Sterling Silver. I don’t know what the mintages are, but I believe they are rather small. We bought this lot just recently from a dealer, but we don’t know where he got them from. You have the bust of King George III on one side and the symbol of which country it represents on the reverse. All are in Proof Sterling Silver.

Picture of George V, 1918 100 Anniversary of World War Commemorative in Copper

George V, 1918 100 Anniversary of World War Commemorative in Copper

World War I was the war to end all wars, or at least that is what people thought, believed and hoped for. World War One lasted from 1914-1918, 2018 was the 100th anniversary of the end of this horrific conflict. Mints all over the world issued commemorative pieces to honour this event. Some of them were sold at outrageous prices. This set was made two years ago, they made 100 sets with a plain edge and 100 sets with the milled edge and we bought them all! These are of excellent workmanship; they were done by someone who does work for the Royal Mint. As usual, when Coincraft makes a good buy, you make a good buy! Here we offer the George V 1918 commemorative retro pattern crown in copper.
