The problems with getting Mint Sets from the Middle East are twofold. Firstly, the currencies are quite strong so they are expensive to get and, secondly, they don’t like you taking the coins out of the country. Like many countries the face value of many of the coins is less than it costs to make them. This is a set of five coins of Bahrain issued between 1992 and 1995 and all are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. You have the 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 Fils. The largest coin is bimetallic and because of religious reasons, they cannot have pictures on them. Rather simple design but very difficult to get out of the country.

Lebanon has one of the most interesting histories in the Middle East. At one time it was known as the Monte Carlo of the Middle East. Then it spent years in turmoil and civil war, now it is starting to regain its place in the world and starting to regain its stature. We are very lucky to be able to get a 5-coin Mint Set from Lebanon, as coins are not all that easy to get out of the country, especially current coins in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. You get the 25 Livres, 50 Livres, 100 Livres, 250 Livres and the 500 Livres dated 1996-2006 all in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.

The Canadian large Cent was only made for three Monarchs, Queen Victoria, Edward VII and George V. After that they went down to a small cent and a few years ago, they stopped making cents completely. We have always had difficulty finding the Edward VII Canadian large cents, but then a parcel came in. The coins are in Very Good – Fine condition and dates will vary, but remember that this series was only made from 1902-1910.
