China, Kwangtung 20 Cents 1929 Extremely Fine

Sun Yat-sen was a Chinese revolutionary statesman, physician, and political philosopher who served as the first provisional president of the Republic of China and the fi rst leader of the Nationalist Party of China. Sun is considered to be one of the greatest and most important leaders of modern China and is unique among 20th-century Chinese leaders being widely revered by both the Communist Party in Mainland China and the Nationalist Party in Taiwan. But his political life was one of constant struggle and frequent exile. He died in Peking (Beijing) in 1925. Sun’s chief legacy is his political philosophy known as the Three Principles of the People: Mínzú (nationalism), Mínquán (rights of the people) and Mínshēng (people’s livelihood). These scarce silver 20 cents, or 2 Jiao, coins were issued by the Kwangtung Province in 1929 to honour the great man and feature the bust of Sun Yat-sen facing left. They are offered in Extremely Fine condition.
