When Edward VIII abdicated in 1936, very few coins had been struck for him. One country that did strike coins was, British West Africa. These are very unusual as, they have a star on one side and a hole in the middle of the coin. The reason they have a hole is that most of the natives didn’t have pockets to put the coins in. So they use to string the coins together and wear them around their neck. We can offer the 1936 King Edward VIII Pennies of British West Africa in Uncirculated condition. One struck in Birmingham with the KN mint mark(for King’s Norton Mint), one struck in London without a mint mark. The third penny bears the H mintmark The London piece is by far the scarcer of the three pieces. All Pennies are in Uncirculated condition.
