John Lennon was the charismatic Beatle, assassinated outside his New York apartment in 1980. This high relief silver medal was issued in 1992 as a limited edition, authorised by the John Lennon Estate. The medal, which is full crown sized, is struck in antiqued finish silver. On the obverse it shows a high relief facing portrait of John Lennon wearing his trade mark ‘Granny’ glasses. Above the portrait, his dates 1940-1980 and below, his signature etched in silver. Toward the end of his life, John Lennon was known as a fierce peace campaigner. On the back we find the CND symbol for peace and the words, taken from one of his songs, ‘Give Peace a Chance’. This medal is part of a limited edition. This is confirmed on the back with the number of the medal engraved in a panel and confirmation below that the medal is struck in .925 (Sterling) silver. Only a few of these wonderful Lennon medals available. Uncirculated and just £18.95.
