Issued in 1977, this beautiful Silver Proof Crown celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first Solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean by the pioneering aviator Charles Lindbergh. Struck to the highest Proof quality in Sterling Silver with very detailed frosted reliefs and mirror like fields, the mintage is very low, just over 4,500 pieces worldwide!
The reverse has a very detailed portrait of Lindbergh in flying gear, in the background his single engine monoplane ‘The Spirit of St. Louis’ and the statue of Liberty and the Eiffel Tower marking the start and finish of his heroic and epic flight. Comes complete in the original plush presentation case of issue.
We recently purchased a small group of these impressive and well presented coins. They are now 27 years old, and very hard to find in any quantity. In fact it has been years since we had enough to offer in the Phoenix. I can’t imagine that there are any other groups around, so if you’d like one, please order early!
