1979 was designated the International Year of the Child and countries all over the world issued coins to mark the event just like this one from Jamaica.
To reflect the passion Jamaicans have for the game of cricket, the illustration on the obverse is of a young boy, cricket bat in hand, ready to send the ball to the boundary. A map of the island is in the background and in the foreground are the symbols for the United Nations which sponsored the event next to the logo for the International Year of the Child. The Arms of Jamaica appears on the reverse. Struck in Proof Sterling Silver, this coin was issued at £35.00 but because of a special purchase we can offer this handsome Jamaican Cricket coin at just £17.50.
