Of all the decimal Proof Sets the 1972 is the most important because none of the coins were issued for circulation, except for the crown that is.

That means if you need the 50p, 10p, 5p, 2p, 1p or the 1/2p the only way you can get them is from the Proof Set. Plus of course you also get a Proof cupronickel Crown and the Royal Mint medal of 1972 in the original packaging.

Elizabeth II, 50 Pence (Rank-Broadley) 1998 Brilliant Uncirculated

1998 Rank-Broadley 50p Brilliant Uncirculated. In 1997 the Royal Mint reduced the size of the 50 Pence piece. In 1998 they introduced a new bust of the Queen for our coinage, it was done by Ian Rank-Broadley. This coin is difficult to get and many collectors are missing it from their collections. We have managed to find a small group in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and now offer them to you. Each coin has the new portrait of the Queen on one side and a seated Britannia on the other. It is the first coin of the new series with the Rank- Broadley bust of the Queen. All of the coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and quite difficult to get.

Picture of Canada, Edward VII Large Cent

Canada, Edward VII Large Cent

The Canadian large Cent was only made for three Monarchs, Queen Victoria, Edward VII and George V. After that they went down to a small cent and a few years ago, they stopped making cents completely. We have always had difficulty finding the Edward VII Canadian large cents, but then a parcel came in. The coins are in Very Good – Fine condition and dates will vary, but remember that this series was only made from 1902-1910.

Picture of Elizabeth II, 7-coin Silver Proof Set in presentation case 1996

Elizabeth II, 7-coin Silver Proof Set in presentation case 1996

1996 was a very interesting year in recent British history: England hosted the European Football Championships (We can’t wait for that to happen again), Charles & Diana finally completed their divorce, Nelson Mandela visited the UK, and the Royal Mint did something they had never done before. They issued a Proof Set of the then-current 1996 coins but, every coin was struck in Proof Sterling Silver. You have the 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p 50p and £1 all struck in Proof Sterling Silver. The whole set comes in a purple plush presentation case with the certificate and is a rather handsome set. One of the marketing company’s is asking £450.00 for this Silver Proof Set. We think this is a fantastic set and, as such, it is much underappreciated. But maybe not if you pay what some of the marketing companies are asking you for it… A nice set sold at a great price!
