Russia, 100 Roubles 1910 Catherine The Great Crisp P13 AU/ Unc

Superb examples of the 100 rouble note dated 1910 featuring a portrait of Empress Catherine the Great on the back and in a fabulous watermark. (P13)These were amongst the last notes issued under the Russian Tsars and measure approximately 10 inches x 5 inches. At the time they were issued they were worth 4 ounces of gold which is why those fleeing the revolution stuffed their suitcases with them. While most notes we see are in circulated condition this group is from an original block and are in wonderful condition grading AU/Unc. Wonderful notes

Russia, South Russia, 10,000 roubles 1919 PS425 VF

In the immediate aftermath of the Russian Revolution, there were many different issues of banknotes before a unified currency was introduced in the early 1920’s. These 10,000 rouble notes dated 1919 were issued in South Russia (PS425) Like many of the notes at the time, they are fairly crude and poorly printed affairs. We are delighted to offer this 10,000 rouble note here in Very Fine (VF) condition.

Russia 500 Roubles 1912 Peter The Great P14 EF/GEF

Russia 500 Roubles 1912 Peter The Great P14 EF/GEF

We have always loved these 500 roubles featuring Peter the Great. They are dated 1912 and are amongst the last notes issued by Tsarist Russia before the Russian Revolution of 1917 swept away all vestiges of Imperial Rule.(P14) They are huge- measuring 270mm x 125mm. At the time, they represented an equally huge amount of money. They feature an imposing portrait of Peter the Great on the back and in the watermark. Peter the Great built Russia’s Navy and founded St Petersburg, the Venice of the North. These are lovely examples in Crisp EF/GEF.
