The Black Sheep Company, set up by Richard Williams issued ‘ notes’ in the late 1960s and early 1970’s. He quickly ran into trouble with the Treasury in London when they realised the Welsh text he used on the notes included the title Chief Treasury in Wales. He changed the title to the Welsh Black Sheep Company but eventually was forced to Overstamp the notes Cancelled by the Treasury in London. We can now offer notes issued in the early 1970s with illustrations of four different Welsh Castles. Here we offer the Harlech Castle £5 with William's signature, Stamp Duty paid and a illustration of a red dragon and balck sheep.
